Arcane Backgrounds

In this wiki page is short summaries on how to play different Arcane types. Whatever you do, everytime you get a New Power make sure you come up with a trapping with appropriate effects. Be sure to check with your Marshal.

Blessed
Casting
Calling upon miracles requires a prayer, even if a short one. No deity is going give their powers to a Blessed who denies his faith. If the hero is unable to speak, he just might get a free pass. Calling upon miracles every five minutes or for trivial things is frowned upon by the deities.
Trappings
The miracles are often without a visible effect. A Blessed with Armor doesn’t get a full-plate send from heavens or even eyes glowing with righteous light, the attacks just miss.
As seen by commoners
Blessed are seen as just and righteous, beacons of hope. Which they are, or they won’t be Blessed anymore. When a Blessed performs a miracle, it is often either praised or dismissed as a trick. When performing something really eyecatching, such as Healing or Succor, Christian Blessed are deemed as truly pious Man o’ cloth. Other religions might be seen as Witchcraft.

Voodoo
Casting
Asking the loa to do favors for the Voodooist requires the prepared voodoo trinkets and calling upon the loa as the Blessed calls upon his gods.
Trappings
The favors granted by the loa bursts from the trinket used in casting, and is usually in line with the trinket in the appearance. It’s common for a Voodooist to have a theme in his trinkets, such as teeth (animal or human!), snakes or spiders.
As seen by commoners
Voodooists are feared and hated. If seen performing miracles, they are usually accused of Witchcraft.

Hucksters
Casting
Casting a spell requires a free hand, as the hexslinger has to look at the cards in his hand. The cards manifest in the Huckster’s hand, which is pretty obvious telltale of supernatural happenings unless the Huckster has skills with the cards to hide them. A huckster can use a different game when Dealing with the Devil, but always need one hand for the game.
Trappings
Hucksters channel the energy from Hunting Grounds given by the Manitou. Their spells can take almost any form the player wishes, but most of them are flashy. Even subtle Powers need the game with a manitou and Powers like Telekinesis need some kind of gesturing.
